Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history.
This month's story :-

In 1928 Alexander Fleming, a qualified medical doctor working as a bacteriologist, had noticed that one of his discarded culture dishes had grown mould that had killed off the original infectious bacteria.
In January 1929 he treated his first patient with an extract from the mould that he called Penicillin. Development was difficult but a chemistry team took this medical miracle through to production in time to save the lives of service men and civilians alike during World War II. The modest Fleming was knighted and also shared a Nobel prize with the principal chemists.
